Gotta Job?

Tonight was my first night teaching the "how to get a job" class at Freedom House. 

It was a mixed bag of ladies as is all domestic and sexual abuse victims.  Ages, education, family, and experience in the work force was varied.  It was mandatory for residents and optional for former residents. 

Tonight we did self assessments to determine exactly what they should target for applications.  Low self esteem is not uncommon among abuse victims and they needed to realize they had talents they may have previously not considered.  They were taught the value their unique talents.

We got into the beginning stages of how to prepare a resume and cover letter and will do an exercise on that next week. 

Other than the one hour drive each way, I'm glad to be contributing.
