Hurt So Good

Images: Spring flowers & newly painted fence.

It is so good to be back outside raking, weeding, moving and all the spring tasks.

Yesterday, I finally painted the picket fence around the little bed by the garage. I have never liked repetitive jobs and painting pickets is repetitive at it's highest. Especially since it all needed primed first. It was a job that had to be done in the early spring because once things grew up a little, it would destroy plants and bushes to get the inside painted.

After nine hours, it is done. I'm so sure if it needs it again we will either hire it done or tear it out. But, it looks so pristine. It is one of those things that once it is painted you notice other things look shabby and need painted. Another day. . .

Cutting down the "White Knight" Weigela bush and trimming the "Rosa Plea" flowering almond took some time. It was a perfect spring day, high in the 70's, sunny, birds singing, saw my first butterfly (actually a white cabbage moth but who cares), and the bees have returned to buzz the spring flowers. I have a sunburn and have got most of the paint scrubbed off my arms. I'm hoping this manual labor is the beginning of weight loss - pain does mean weight loss-right?

(I'm in the process of posting pictures of all our families. I decided since we live in so many different areas, it might be nice that you get introduced to each other via this little blog. Hope you enjoy the pictures, information and links to any family blogs. It's family reunions without the fried chicken and travel. )
