Repeat Performance

I feel almost guilty saying, "It's another beautiful day." It got hot (88) but wonderful weather. This may go down as our most weather wonderful summer.

After we went to our neighbor's funeral, I went over to Bishop Hill. I was, again, a judge in the pie baking contest. This is always fun. There were four judges - three of us repeats and one from the audience (a little old lady who kept apologizing, never-the-less a sweet woman.) The winner was an apple carmel two crust. We do individual judging on several criteria, we immediately eliminate the "no chance in hell" ones and then A-B-C rate the remaining ones. I actually liked a sour cherry best but when the average of all counts were taken, the A/C won. I'm still coming off the sugar buzz. . . ...

Jerry took advantage of the weather to smooth the soil behind the house where the basement wall disrupted. We had to let it settle for a month. He filled, grated, ditched, then hauled the rest to the woods to fill gullies. He did a great job and even got my bird feeder replaced. He added a stainless steel globe to the top of my "bottle tree" and all the bottles Sue gave me. I love it even though it skates ever so close to "crazy old woman".
