This picture was after a fun less game where Galva was beat badly and several times it got rough without the refs bringing it back.
At 8th grade level, there are large schools that have so many kids to choose from that the 8th graders look like high schoolers in size and physical ability. Galva has several talented players (including Kane) but they are no match for 6 ft. 200# opponents. Rough opponents at that.
As the Galva team hoped to quickly exit, they were called back to be honored for the 8th grade winter sports and then made to have their pictures taken. Note there are thirteen sport-oblivious cheerleaders and only ten not so joyous basketball players. I think Kane's face tells it all.
