The Girls

Kate and Grace both just happened to have on Santa hats this Christmas and both took great pictures. Certainly a couple of beauties - I know it's Grandma talking here but "They Are!"

With Jerry's help, the Christmas things are down and put away - with the exception of outside. Tomorrow the cleaning.

I've been messing around with my "Village People". I didn't get any done before Christmas so decided it's still not too late.

Out here it's been about six below zero the past two nights. Today, the hot water to the kitchen sink was froze. It's a good news vs. bad news thing. Jerry spent a lot of time insulating the outside basement entrance to eliminate heat loss. It's done a great job and the floors in the kitchen are much warmer. The bad news is the water pipes to the kitchen sink go through the wall in the uninsulated portion of the stairwell. Today, after thawing the pipe, he insulated them also. Seems to have done the trick - tonight will be the test.

When we walked through the woods this past week, we found a spot where a small deer had been laying. They don't usually enter our woods because of the dogs but it's been so cold the dogs haven't been out much at night in the woods. Our new next door neighbor, Jim DeCrane said he has seen where they have been laying under his pine tree wind break, too.

Can't imagine how difficult life must be for animals and birds in this kind of weather. They have sure been eating up a storm on the feeders this week. It's a good time to get rid of breads/nuts etc. in the freezer that are past fresh or never going to be used.
