The slopes

With about 8 inches of new snow, Kane and three of his friends came out to snowboard or sled the hills beside the house. Grandpa uses his old WD to pull them back up the hill.
This started over ten years ago with Max. Starting at the top of the South hill, Max and I would go fast until we came back up the other side almost to the drive.
The conditions have to be just right: Lots of snow, beans instead of corn the previous summer (the whole impaling thing), not too cold or windy as to freeze everyone and kids the right age to care.
This morning we sent out the alert to the grand kids - conditions right! Conditions right!
Alas, not "quite" right. The snow was a dry fluffy type which meant they mostly sunk into it instead of skimming over the top. They spent a lot of time trying to pack it, push it, stomp it but it was still not the "event" all had hoped. As cold as it's suppose to be this week, we may get there yet - here's hoping.
Afterwards, everyone came inside (shedding various layers of wet and cold) to have numerous cups of hot chocolate before they took one last walk through the woods and then home. Jerry enjoyed the mission, Harley enjoyed thinking the boys were playing with him and I enjoyed watching an altogether very nice group of young men have fun on the slopes.
