The "New Beginnings" fund raiser for Freedom House was last night and a big success. I'm passing along a new money making tactical bit: have wine tasting when you have a silent auction. As the wine flowed the bids went up.This is a picture with our newest Board member, Kathy O'Malley. Jerry was "star struck." Kathy was half of the Chicago's WGN "Kathy and Judy" show. She has since retired and living in Princeton. Jerry's has always listened to WGN talk shows on his long rides to/from work.
The food was good - chocolate things, cheese/meat/crackers snacks. The harpist and Frank Sinatra type singer were both enjoyable.
Because I was doing my Board "hello, glad you're here" thing we didn't really buy too much at the auction. Glad things went pretty high. The Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert tickets and backstage Meet & Greet went for about twice what it would have been at the door, but, then it's invitation only to the M&G so that was worth it for fans. Everyone liked Luke's grandpa, Hugh, and Jerry's mom were "sweethearts" story.

Tomorrow night is P.E.O. here and tomorrow I need to do my finishing touches. Always fun to get out all the old family crystal, silver and china and use all my serving pieces. So glad I have a dish washer! Can't imagine how hard it will be to part 20 or so cars with it being so muddy. Jerry's offered to park cars so they can get out easily and without getting stuck - took him up on his idea. We had almost 3 inches come down quickly so there is wash-outs again in the fields. It was so windy and raining so hard on our way home last night cars were only going about 35 mph.
