This article and photo are in the February 2011 issue of Successful Farming magazine. Susan Maple Kirkpatrick is the granddaughter of dad's sister, Edna Shenk Maple. Or, she is my second cousin. What a nice surprise to open the magazine and immediately recognized Susan and her husband, Bryan. A nice article about nice people.
When she was a little girl,we called her Susie and she is now Susan. She uses her more adult given name much like my Susan. Susan's parents are Charlie and Barb Maple. Charlie would be my 1st cousin.
Susan has an older sister, Ann, and a younger brother, Tom. Tom lives in the house "on the hill" where we lived when I was young. It was the house prior to where I grew up.

Had some great Trent & Julie fried fish today for lunch and some of their beef/vegetable soup. Made for an easy day with no cooking. Trent and Ian caught over 200 more today. I think I'm in heaven!

Tomorrow Sunday School/Church and a soup/sandwich dinner "on the grounds" afterwards. Gracie is coming home with us for an afternoon visit.

February birthdays are Faye Gibson Dunn - 02-21-1975 and Heidi Shenk 02-27-1975. Harley is eight years old this month. Except a few gray hairs he is still a pretty young acting dog. Who else but old people put their dogs birthdays included with family!

As much as I prefer your version, I have to admit that my birthday is not 2/27/1975 but actually 2/27/1970! Thanks for the nice thought, however! - Heidi
