Benefit

I donated the little snowman picture to the Steve and Susan Bell benefit. Hope it brings them some needed cash. The most (that I know of) one of my little winter scenes has gone for is $79 so who knows. Typically, area people bid high for the cause instead of trying to get something cheap.
The Bell families are long time Galva residents and business people. Duane and Sue own Bell Trucking and Steve is third generation as shop manager. Two of Duane & Sue's boys were in school with Sue and Trent.
Over the last six months, Steve has had four major operations and now has an aneurysm but can't have the surgery until 2010 because of anesthesia being maxed out in his system. Sue has Stage 3 breast cancer, 3 operations, chemo and radiation. She is scheduled for more.
Being a family owned business, I'm not sure how good their insurance is but assume not terribly good as they are deeply in debt for medical bills. The benefit is Oct. 24 at Mary's Family Dining with the usual benefit things going on, including a drawing for a 2010 Dodge Challenger @ $25 a chance.
Anyway, Duane has always been good to us as we have worked our way through remodeling this old house and we'll try to get to the benefit and see if we can't give back. Can't imagine going through as much as they have/are and then having financial worries.
