Social Queen

My new kitchen rugs arrived this week and I'm happy with the results of my little improvements.

Social Queen? Well, not so much but it appears the "holidays" and my socialization calendar are chugging into full swing. All those "I'm going to do this and such this year" seem to get pushed aside in the day-to-day schedule of events.

An example is I'm always going to the 6:00 a.m. Christmas services, performed in Swedish, at the old Bishop Hill Colony Church. Primitive, historical, lit only with candles on huge chandeliers AND no heat. Come Christmas morning, every Christmas morning, I think "What was I thinking?" Maybe someday. . .

Tuesday, I had supper with the "IP Women". Always nice to catch up on their lives and always lots of laughter. Wednesday, Jerry and I had supper at Thunder Bay in Davenport with an old IP work friend and his wife, Tom and Marlene Gaffigan. They live in Harlan, Iowa now. Tell me "Why do I order salmon in the Midwest - why why why?"

Kept Gracie two days this week and it is wonderful to be around grandchildren and catch up with how much they change and in the case of the older ones, what they are doing.

I have a committee meeting here this morning and Jerry is driving to Chicago Midway again tonight to pick up Megan. Her bridal shower is Sunday morning. Saturday evening another couple is going with us to a friend's daughter's wedding reception.

Another day of rain. I need to get some real clean up of outdoor things done SOON as they are predicting some freezing temps and I heard the S word. It's hard for me to dump a pot of healthy blooming flowers. Oakes Daylilies had a sale of discontinued lilies and at 25% off, I had HAD to order some that I have been wanting but had put off until another day. Those should arrive today and need to get in the ground and heavily mulched. It will be a muddy and chilly job.
