St. Paddies

Dinner tonight at Chestnut Street B & B with hosts Jeff Sudakov and Chef Monika Sudakov.

Our menu: St Patricks Day Smoked Salmon Blinis with Creme Fraiche, Beer and Cheese Soup, Corned Beef and Cabbage with Potatoes, Irish Cream Chocolate Souffles. (Irish Soda Bread)

The salmon was wonderful as was the soup. The corned beef was not preserved as you would buy in the store. She created her own corned beef as they eat in Ireland. It is more like a roast with potatoes, carrots and cabbage. There are pickling spices but the meat is not pink, nor salted. That was the only thing we found not great because the meat was rather tough and lacked the flavor we have become accustomed. The dessert was killer over the top. The inside was soft chocolate, the rest very light and the Irish cream fraiche was good enough to drink.

The soup was made with Wisconsin cheddar and dark beer plus had a bit of a kick. The blinis was a small green onion pancake, the salmon sliced thin, and surrounded by capers. I could have just had this and still been happy. I'm sure we'll try it again. The hosts were nice, service great, and she has a large garden that she invited me to come see and take pictures.

They offered Jerry free meals if he would fashion railings for their front porch. Hummmm can we say new part time job???? For gourmet food?????

One room was vacant and we checked it out and it was very nice.
