Last Saturday we went to the Farmington Italian Festival with Keitra and Bradley.Anytime we're with Bradley it's great and he didn't disappoint Grandpa with his continued devotion. Nothing beats being special to a grandchild! Naturally, it was pasta time in Farmington. At one time, the town was 50% Italian and most were non English speaking.
There were pasta eating contests, largest tomato contest, bocce ball tourney and more. It's a Hog Festival without the hogs and LOTS smaller. Lots of kids and people having a good time and beer.
We roamed the events while Phil played ball and ended up eating - surprise on that end. I had mostaccioli and the "famous" peach tea. There was lots to choose from and by the looks of it, the Italian sausage and meatball sandwiches were a hit. Bradley was on the move continually and was interested in everyone and everything.
After exhausting the events, we spent some time at Keitra's house. Our first viewing of the "Cars" movie and Keitra and Bradley's 1,000th viewing. Jerry transported a patio set for them and helped take it down to their dock plus helped measure off stripes for Bradley's room. Had a really nice day.
On the way home stopped at Elmwood and had an ice cream Sunday while Jerry had a chili dog. Looked at the tornado damage. Really did a bad number on their downtown old buildings. Last I read, the town/business owners will not get FEMA funding to rebuild. Something to do with the buildings were totally destroyed so it didn't count.... red tape and government blabla.
