Sure was a warm humid one yesterday. Our lawn had not been mowed in two weeks because we were having trouble finding a belt for the mower, all the rain, and the construction. It was like mowing a hayfield and the "make due" belt broke just as I was about done. It was difficult mowing and mowing around things. Was finally able to get my new iris in the ground although only in a temp. spot.
We had supper with Teresa and Jerry Quick last evening in LaSalle at the Uptown Grill. Teresa called and wanted to know if we would mind bringing Tanya (daughter) with us so she could pick up a car from them. Steve VanWynsberge brought Tanya to the house and it's always nice to have an opportunity to visit with him after so long a time. It was good to catch up on Tanya's family (her boys are 16 & 12) on the way to LaSalle.
Teresa brought pictures of Josh's (son) little girl, and she is a real cutie. She also brought a copy of the "Harmony" O.S.F. St. James' periodical where they featured Teresa in an article about her early detection and successful breast cancer surgery. Teresa is recovering well. The picture is of Teresa and her doctor.
I took pictures of the grandchildren for "show and tell" and Teresa said to tell you all "hello."
Because eating is a big deal when you get our age (ha): I had asparagus vichyssoise with mascarpone cream, the house spinach salad topped with a cold smoked trout fillet, and creme' brulee . All good!
There is so much road construction, we had to take some back roads to LaSalle which made us run late going but is such a pretty drive. We took a leisurely drive home through the hills, lakes and lush grounds that populate the Bureau County area.
